July 23rd, 2006: A Discussion of Beauty   I'm delighted to announce that, once again, I'll be hosting with Tiffiny Wolins, a discussion of Beauty. The highlights of the evening will be provided by a recent client of mine, J, who will wax eloquent on  the exploration of her beauty.  Along with treating us to the first public viewing of the images that she has chosen for her commemorative album, she will also be reading a very beautiful poem that she was inspired to write soon after her portrait session.  See below for a full description and invitation to the event.

You are cordially invited to a discussion of Beauty and the use of Dance and Photography to affirm the presence of the Goddess, as practiced by
Tiffiny Wolins & Jim Guzel.

Sunday, July 23rd, 6:00 to 9:00 PM

Tiffiny and Jim formed Aspire! four years ago, based on the belief that practicing art brings out the tangible and visible presence of beauty in the artist (and we are all artists). Together, their work has since received international recognition in Unframed First Look. Individually, Tiffiny’s work as director, choreographer, movement specialist and healer has graced a number of stages and blessed numerous individual lives in the Washington metropolitan area. At the same time, Jim has gone on to win a national photography contest with one of his fine art nude portraits and his work has been featured in Popular Photography magazine. Jim is also the official portrait photographer for LifePages magazine in the DC/Baltimore/Annapolis area. A selection of Aspire! Art will be available for viewing. See: for biography information, details, and sample images of their work.

This discussion will be the current iteration of an on-going series that has explored why we do art, what it has to do with Beauty, and just what is Beauty anyway? On hand to jump start the discussion will be several former clients including "J" who will proudly explain how her simple Fine Art Nude studio portrait concept morphed into an on-location, life-changing adventure that found her bashing her bathroom scale to smithereens with a sledgehammer.

The discussion will be held at the home of Claire Turner, 13151 Hutchinson Way, Silver Spring, MD 20906. Space is very limited. Please call Aphrodite Photography, (202)362-2008, right away to make your reservation for the discussion or playshop. There is no fee to attend the discussion but please feel free to bring something in the pot luck direction to drink or nosh on.

In honor of
Artfully Goddess

An Aspire! Affirmation through the Arts Playshop Series
Led by Tiffiny Wolins & Jim Guzel  September 8th - 10th, 2006

This evening will also see the official kick-off for Artfully Goddess, a weekend long playshop at the historic Woodlawn B&B in St. Mary’s County, MD. The weekend will feature an individual Aspire! Fine Art Nude portrait session, in doors or out, for each of the six participants. Sensuous foods and movement exercises will be complemented by the luxurious facilities and scenic vistas. Two of the six spots are already spoken for, so you may wish to reserve yours today. If you intend to register the evening of this discussion, please come prepared to do so by having your check book or credit card with you. Past experience leads us to expect the playshop to fill by the end of the evening, if not sooner.  For further information: (202) 362-2008 or
